A common question is: "Can I put a license plate from another state on my box?"  Absolutely!  All US license plates have the same spacing between the mounting holes.  One thing we have found is that not all license plates are created equal.  Some are thicker than others and the best ones have an embossed ring around the outer border of the license plate.  We like this because it makes the license plate stiffer and more durable.  You will notice that all of our Wyoming plates are 1977 or earlier and it is for the reasons listed above.
