Why Bronco Box?
About
Bronco Boxes were created to provide singer song writers with a way to have a drum sound without the drummer. Our founder (Chris) was constantly finding himself leading worship at his church without a drummer, but really wanted some type of percussion to help carry the beat on faster paced songs. He started by attaching a kick drum pedal to a cajon box and playing it during his sets. This was a hassle and not portable at all. He started looking in to porch boards, but found that the good ones were really expensive and sounded more like two blocks of wood colliding as opposed to a bass drum sound. He began to do some research on how to make your own and started experimenting. After many attempts, many conversations with different people and many different designs he finally got the sound and design he was searching for in the Bronco Box.
What Sets Us Apart?
Most other boxes use a piezo pick up which makes the box very sensitive and picks up a lot of mid and high frequencies because they are made for acoustic guitars. We are different because we use bass pick-ups in the Bronco Box which automatically eliminate a lot of the high and mid frequencies. We also installed a Low Pass Filter next to the volume knob which allows you to eliminate or add back in as much high frequencies as you like. We also added some shielding/grounding that makes this box silent with no buzz or hum. We have adjusted and tweaked the box so that when you plug your ¼” cable into the Bronco Box for the first time it sounds like a kick drum. Through the Low Pass Filter and a bass amp or PA system, you will be able to dial in your Bronco Box to your desired bass drum sound.
Why Wyoming License Plates?
We use Wyoming license plates because the pickups are located directly under the cowboy. Therefore the cowboy is the sweet spot. Kick the Cowboy and you will get your best tone.
